Pookode Lake A natural freshwater lake tucked away in the midst of the forests of the Western Ghats, Pookode Lake lies at a whopping height of 770 meters from the sea level. Run by the district tourism promotion council, the lake is one of the prominent tourist places in Wayanad and offers such exciting facilities as boating, spices and handicraft emporium and freshwater aquarium.

Banasura Dam Built at one of the tributaries of Kabani River with enormous piles of boulders and stones, the dam is the largest and second largest earth dam in India and in Asia respectively. The reservoir of then dam will mesmerize you with astounding vistas of islets clad in mist and surrounding greenery. Lying closer to the dam, Mount Xanadu has the luxury to take you there anytime you please.

Karlad Lake If you are all in for adventure, one of the best places in Wayanad to flex your adventurous muscles is Karlad Lake. The lake is exceptionally ripe for adventure activities and will thrill you with its jaw dropping scenic beauty. Soochipara falls The fall is also called Sentinel Rock Waterfalls is also and is circumscribed by chunky dense forests giving it an otherworldly poise and feel. A three-tiered waterfall in Wayanad, it cascades down from a height of 656 feet and offers a cliff-face idyllic for rock-climbing. The water of the fall merges with that of Chaliyar River.

Chembra Peak The very attraction of the peak is its height and the sprawling vistas it presents for the visitors. Lying majestically at a stupefying height of 6,890 ft from the sea level, it simply makes for the highest peak in the Western Ghats from the Nilgiris till the magnificent Himalayas. Meenmutty falls Another excellent waterfall in Wayanad, it is located at a height of 300 meters. During the monsoon, the fall is considered dangerous as the water inflow increases tremendously. The waterfall is 2 kilometers into the jungle and the trek to the waterfall is an exceptional journey through the wilderness to something exceptional waiting.

Edakkal Caves Located at a height of about 3900 feet from the sea level, these are two natural caves that housed humans thousands of years ago. Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary Also known widely as Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, it spreads across 344.44 sq. km. An integral part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, the sanctuary is home to some of the most exotic flora and fauna indigenous to this part of the world. It also houses several endangered species and the wildlife of the sanctuary is surely a treat to any nature lover’s eyes.

Kuruva Island Kuruvadweep or Kuruva Island comprises of a cluster of islets over the middle of Kabini River in Wayanad that is popular for the boat rides it offers on specially crafted bamboo rafts. Spread over 950 acres of land, Kuruva Island, is popular for its diverse flora and fauna.
